Growing up we always had a real Christmas tree. As an adult I’ve ways had a real Christmas tree, much of the burden of that has landed on my husband. He has suggested an artificial tree this year for convenience sake with so many little kids. I see his point, but I’m concerned that once you go fake tree, you never go back.

Has anyone gone from real tree to artificial tree, back to real tree?

I don’t have enough room to have a real Christmas tree.

Always gone artificial in my adult life.
Easier setup
Easier cleanup
Don’t have to kill a tree
And reusable in the future.
Just my thoughts

Fake trees are easier, more environment friendly, reusable, etc. You’ll probably want to do it again for the convenience.

I bought a fake tree nine years ago which cost me £68. Each Christmas I bought a real one for £20 and above. I was in profit five years ago and the glow of knowing that fills my lounge every Christmas. 😉

Doesn’t smell the same but i also don’t have problems with housebound squirrels spitting pine nuts at me! Dang squirrels.

My family had a small pine tree in a pot.

The tree lives outside but the day after Thanksgiving, it gets wheeled in and festooned with Christmas ornaments and lights. After Christmas it gets wheeled out and continues to live its life in the outdoors.

It’s a real tree and it does not die at the end of Christmas. It continues living its life.

Yeah we had a real tree until I was probably 5. And then we had a fake tree for several years until I was in highschool. But for the last 5ish years we’ve had a real one.

I grew up with fake trees (we had a real tree once), but as an adult I’ve flip-flopped between fake tree, real (cut) tree, real (live) tree, and no tree. So no, I don’t think going fake necessarily means you’ll never have a real tree again.

I’ve never had a real tree. I like the smell, but I’d rather just use an artificial tree and get a pine-scented air freshener.

Yes. For sure. They require tiny garland, and gluing on raisins for decorations is tedious.

Always a real tree 🙂 For some years we had goats,so the tree was recycled.

When I was quite little, my parents and my maternal Gramma would put up live trees.

I think that they stopped because of our pet cat who would try and get into the tree or who would try and drink out of the water that was put into the tree stand.

Plus I think that my Mom got tired of the mess when the needles would come off of the tree, too.

Both my Mom and my Gramma switched to artificial trees after that and then they always had them. We had tall trees, and then they both switched to smaller table top trees which were about 4 feet tall.

We would try putting up an artificial tree ourselves, only to have it become the center of attention for any of our kitties, over the years.

They thought that it was either something to climb around in/on, something to pull over/knock over, or something that was hanging ornaments that weren’t really ornaments, but rather hanging cat toys! LOL!! 😁
