just returned from a wedding, my first real Mexican flavored ceremony with the arras, lazo, whole nine yards, and the reception with mariachis, barbecue, dancing. a very lovely time, actually it was a convalidation ceremony. this is a large family, and two other members have also been married in the last year in the Church. It all started when the first couple brought their older daughter to be baptized, she entered the church at Easter 3 years ago. during our first interview, I asked as I always do if any other family members needed sacraments, confirmation etc., or if anyone had questions for father or the deacon about marriage. They proceeded to make arrangements for convalidation, and both took confirmation class and were just confirmed at Pentecost. She brought her sister, who signed her 3 middle school kids up for 1st communion. They also went on for convalidation, she made her first communion tonight, they have completed the confirmation classes and will be confirmed the next time the bishop comes. Her brother brought his fiance to the confirmation classes, they have been confirmed and are now married.

A fourth couple in the family were married in the wife’s non-denom church, and she is now planning to attend RCIA, and they are attending pre-baptismal classes for new baby.

One extended family, 3 sacramental marriages, at least 2 baptisms, several first communions and confirmations–all because I asked that one routine question.

also the mother and father of this big family had been having problems, and are now reunited, she told me tonight in large part because of the example set by her daughters. What a huge outpouring of sacramental grace on this family. Praise be to God.

God bless you, all those involved in influencing this family, and all members who chose to participate more fully in the Catholic Church. You are an inspiration to us all puzzleannie.
