December 13th, 1945,

Josef Kramer was hung, he was a commander in both Auschwitz-Birkenau and later on, Berger-Bielsen, called the Beast of Bielsen and responsible for thousands of deaths.


He was hung in Germany by a British hangman, Albert Pierrepoint. Unbelievably, Pierrepoint’s father and uncle were hangmen too. You can read about him here:


Albert Pierrepoint still was the hangman for 435-600 persons per the wikipedia article.

We can only hope we never go through these things again. Man’s inhumanity to man.

Just something to reflect on.
