Bishop Barron says…
The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the be-all and the end-all of the Christian faith.

Joseph Smith said…
The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it. (History of the Church 3:30)
Happy Easter Everyone!!

Happy Easter G.

Like all things LDS the words may be the same but when compared to Christianity, have entirely different meanings. In this case, if the question is asked, why is the resurrection important? We’d get taken down the rabbit hole of Mormon gods and goddesses again.

Regarding “appendages”, in a homily by now Archbishop Wester, he put it this way (paraphrasing), for Catholics. Our salvation can be viewed as a polished gemstone and a polished gemstone has facets. Each facet rightly has our focus and our devotion.

But beyond all that, one of my favorite quotes is, “We are an Easter people, and Alleluia is our song.” I just have to say, I love the Alleluia at the Easter vigil.
