I’m not a regular viewer of this show but for some reason I watched it this past week and found some of it’s “humor” disturbing. There was a segment where two of the main female characters (the divas of the show) ended up joining a teen purity group as a ruse to deflect attention from the math teacher that they were stealing test grades. The kid in this Teen purity group are portrayed as “freaks” and worthy of ridicule and are used as props to point out how lame and ridiculous it is for teens to even consider holding on to their virginity. The show was basically a mirror on how our culture of death thinks. It was silly and scary at the same time.

Those shows are worthless, and infact they are the reason why the culture has gone downhill. They are the ones broadcasting those ideas to teens and giving them the wrong impression.

I saw an old Scrubs episode last month and one of the jokes was pretty bad. The Zach guy was infront of his hospital and the hospital was called “Sacred Heart” and he as a “joke” used some paint to make it say “Sacred Fart”…that was it for me, once they mock Jesus they are officially worthless shows.

yes, i saw this episode too, and i didnt realize that it was mocking purity until you pointed it out. I have recently been questioninig my viewing of this show, feeling kinda guilty for watching it. I used to love it, but now its a take-it-or-leave-it kind of show for me. There is also a lot of sexual immorality that goes on in that show, although there are a lot of good points too it as well. Like, this one couple loved each other so much, but the girl said she would not have sex with him til they got married, so they went off and got married as juniors in high school (crazy, huh?) So yeah, i wish more people would post on this topic, because its an interesting one to me. Anything you may have to say would be helpul for me. 😉

I like Scrubs even though I don’t watch it that much. Isn’t that making fun of the Hospital though, not Jesus. It’s not like it was a church or anything.

Welcome fellow resident of Massachusetts! As a fellow conservative Catholic in a state where anything goes, I feel your pain!!

I don’t watch the show. Don’t need to. I see enough garbage previews to let me know that this show is just that, garbage.

I think that just shows that you must not have that in your heart. It seems that if you didn’t know that purity was being mocked it must not have been in you to begin with. But that doesn’t mean that if you keep watching stuff like this that it won’t eventually effect you. The devil likes to work in this way. So you have to be vigilant in your beliefs and know what is actually going on when you watch something. Don’t let the devil sneak up on you.

(emphasis added)
That’s God speaking to you. Guilt is good as long as you don’t let it get you so down that you can’t confess anything. Grace abides when guilt is there.

Sorry to say, but them getting married at such a young age is not good. I think the show was trying to say that sex is so important that it doesn’t matter how old you are as long as you are married. They were emphasizing sex instead of marriage in this situation. Marriage is a life long committment. You don’t get married because you want to have sex. You get married because you love the other person and want what’s best for that other person. And that “best” is God.

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Jason and Crystalina Evert? Check out that webpage. 👍 You can listen to their Catholic talk on that webpage if you scroll down a little.

Here is the Pure Love Club website! Check it out!

The name alone of “Sacred Heart” is a huge deal. That is Jesus Christ. It didn’t have to be in a church, it is Jesus Christ.

Not really a “lack of sense of humor”, I love jokes of all kinds and Im not one of those “clean joke” type people.
However I do have standards and mockery of my God is too much.

No offense but given the wide degree of how people define “Christian” today that could mean anything.
