Online Bible Study

Do you know of any online Bible Studies?

There are plenty out there, but are there any that will give an authentic “Catholic” interpretation, has questions that you can ponder or at least explain the book you are studying in layman terms and also that are free?

We signed up for one through Dayton U about a year ago. Great course on Intro to Scripture. It was promoted through our local diocese where we lived at the time and I found the course to be good, with what I perceived to be alignment with the Magisterium.

Check them out-they have a variety of online courses for Catholics.

Our Bible study group used AgapeBibleStudy which is a Catholic study, completely free and very extensive. We did several studies including Salvation History which is 28 chapters. There are also exhibits that go with each study.

The downside is that it’s rather “scholarly” and so if your study group focuses more on sharing and fellowship, it might not be the best choice. We LEARNED A LOT! But I would suggest starting with one of the shorter studies although they have a facilitator’s guide and suggest you begin with Salvation History to provide context.

Our group has been meeting since 2008 so we’ve seen a lot of materials, both Catholic and non-Catholic in focus. It depends a lot on your objective…whether to study and learn or more of a social, sharing and fellowship group.

Yes, I’ve done a few of the AgapeBible Studies and their a liitle intense - its almost too much information. I do like the CBS Bible studies, but is a protestant view and looking for one like CBS but Catholic interpretation.
