Hi I’m planning to do a online theology bachelor’s degree, and was hoping if anyone has any experience with St Joseph’s College in Maine? Also are there any other reputable colleges with good undergraduate degrees?

Unfortunately, many colleges only offer a masters for online courses. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you,

Hi, Jerviskang;

I can highly recommend Catholic Distance University (CDU) which offers both BA and MA degree programs entirely online. CDU is one of maybe a couple dozen colleges/universities in the country that qualify as a “Ex Corde Ecclesiae” institution. (This means that the teaching is from the heart of the Church, traditional/orthodox teaching.) After graduation, I was accepted to St. Joseph’s/Maine for a Master’s program but dropped the first course after a few weeks. I found it disappointing, and not what I had expected, after CDU. But that was just my own personal experience.

May God bless you in your studies!

You might look into Christendom or Holy Apostles. Both are Newman Guide schools and the Newman guide notes several online schools as well as brick an mortar schools which offer online courses and are faithful to the magisterium. (Christendom and Holy Apostles are two such schools.)

Ask the school if the degree they award is canonically recognized (can. 817, Veritatis Gaudium/Sapientia Christiana). If so, I wouldn’t hesitate to proceed.
