Well RCIA people, its almost time! I can’t wait. It seems like the Easter Vigil can’t get here fast enough!! Are all of you as excited as I am?! I feel like doing cartwheels!! :extrahappy:

How is everyone who is joining the Church feeling??

hey everybody, make sure you get a nap tomorrow afternoon, it will be a long evening. if you keep feeling jolts, it’s all those people around the world praying for you.

I’m so excited! Our RCIA does a day retreat at the church tomorrow, and the vigil starts at 8:00.

Just as an aside, I’ve felt Good Friday more strongly today than any other year. I’m dreading 3:00 (which is in 5 minutes) but looking forward to tomorrow, so I’m conflicted.

Does everyone else feel like someone they love is dying? :o

Strangely detached at the moment.

Very hungry due to fasting, which may be contributing to the detachment

Geting ready for the 7 PM Celebration of the Lord’s Passion. The RCIA will be part of the Veneration of the Cross, followed by Dismissal. We have been warned that we leave around 10 PM.

I’m excited. I can barely handle my enthusiasm. I found out though, apparently I’m not being Confirmed, and I don’t know why. I’ve been baptized. There’s nothing that I can think of that wouldn’t allow me to be confirmed…Does anyone else know what the reasoning could be?

I was raised CAtholic myself and yet i don’t know everything about these kinds of things. I was confirmed as a teen, but i have brought people into the Church and don’t remember there being a problem w/ confirmation… Hmmm… Maybe you could ask an apologist at this website… 😦

well we have the Church beautifully decorated for you, everyone has rehearsed the beautiful liturgical movements and actions, we are waiting for you with open arms. Umm I should warn you we just filled the baptismal font this morning, it was still cold at noon, and I doubt if it will be much warmer by this evening. Bring a nice big towel.

🙂

I’m being received into full communion tonight and as of this morning the water in our font was nice and toasty 🙂 (I’ve already been baptized in a protestant denomination, but we do have 6 catechumens). Apparently this is the first year the heater has actually been working so there’d be warm water for the vigil–which is a good thing because we’re supposed to hit a record low here tonight!

cold and rainy, low tonight into the 40s, I brought umbrellas because we have to escort the newly baptized from the dressing area back into Church. It will also be very windy, we may have to light the fire in the vestibule, small fire, no huge procession (too bad, father loves to get crazy with the charcoal lighter outside).

Coming from an AA background, I would have to say that any graces I have received have come slowly, hardly noticeable except in retrospect, along the lines of a spiritual awakening along educational lines. More like dominoes falling into place as I trudge the road to Confirmation.

Starting last 16 July when I stumbled across a website devoted to Our Lady Of Mount Carmel. The decision to wear the Brown Scapular, even if not blessed or invested by a Priest. Followed by the the Green Scapular. Starting RCIA in October 2006. Coming across www.catechismclass.com and their adult RCIA program. Started to pray the Rosary daily. Having a sponser chosen for me who just happened to be in the Legion Of Mary. To stumble across the BSP and CFP websites. AA friends, also Catholics, who are giving me possable names for my Spiritual Director.

All this in less then one year, and Confirmation tonight. What is going to happen in the next year?

Are you in an invalid marriage? Maybe they’re waiting for the Bishop? Is nobody being confirmed or just you?

Sounds like our weather. I will pray for nice weather for our RCIA people and pray during parts of the Vigil (I don’t attend as the church is packed and I prefer to let those who are coming into the fullness of the faith and their families have the Church tonight). I will be attending Mass at our little Mission Parish - it will be full but nice.

Excitement and nerves must be running rampant right now or all of you coming into the Church.

May Mother Mary hold your hand as you wait for this the culmination of your classes and for some of you the apparent eternal wait!

I doubt anyone remembers me (and all my annoying questions), but I did want to say that my husband and I were received into the Catholic Church at the Vigil:D

in this diocese the priest at the Easter vigil has only the faculty to confirm the newly baptized, or those baptized in another Christian denomination. Those Catholics in the adult confirmation class who elected to celebrate their first communion at Easter will not be confirmed until the celebration with the bishop on Pentecost. I guess you would just have to ask your RCIA director or pastor what the practice is in your diocese.
