There is just something more involved in the proabortion movement than just political momentum. In my city we picket the local abortion clinic, with signs pointing to the street. We stay within lines painted on the sidewalk by court order, and to my knowledge we are always courteous to persons going into the clinic. (The clinic does not claim we interfere with anything in their press releases or on their website). The pro abortion side has counter pickets sometimes, holding signs proclaiming the pro choice view to the public.

On occasion the other side does bizarre activities directed to the prolifers. For instance, on Halloween they dressed up in costumes, including obscene costumes as Jesus and Mary. They played sounds of babies laughing and giggling while one person in costume as a doctor pretended to perform abortions. Another person performed a profane sexual dance around the prolifers.

Let me emphasize none of this action by the proabortion types “protected” anyone going into the clinic. (That is their usual reason given for being there). If anything it was scarier for anyone than anything prolifers are accused of.

Yes, there is a power of darkness at work here.

I’ve never witnessed this phenomenon; however, my parents encountered it several times when they were praying outside the abortion clinic. It’s disturbing because that kind of behavior is irrational! To act like some of these people do is deranged at best and demonic at worst. Truly disturbing 😬

that is a very good post
i’d no idea how powerful the pro-abortion forces are

they will stop at nothing to proliferate the culture of death 😦

Now that is beyond weird. A few years ago I was working in a city that had an abortion clinic. I went and prayed in front of it during the day after work. Many times I was the only one there. But I’ve never encountered that. Granted, I do live in the South in which many folks are against abortion.

However, I went to the New Hampshire March for Life once and there was this big guy who intentionally walked into a friend of mine real hard. It was obvious what the guy was meaning to do. I suppose it just gets nastier up North.

i applaud your courage & commitment to the pro-life cause

i wish i had one half of your fortitude

The bizarre behavior is apparently rare. What is to me harder to understand is the widespread passivity, or nonchalance about abortion among the great majority of Catholics. Where I live we have large convents, in favor of Peace and Justice. I have never met a sister involved in prolife, never seen a convent website with any prolife support.

Our diocesan newspaper prints favorable articles about the Prolife Office activities one month. Then the next month they have flattering articles about the local pro abortion politician giving a talk at a “Catholic” institution.

Prolifers are treated like an optional interest group (like charismatics): “OK, if anyone happens to be interested in that, the diocese will set aside special activities for you” (to meet your need). The bishops meet with us often, and always tell the prolifers that prolife is important. I have never heard about the bishop urging anyone else outside prolife to become a prolifer.

This passivity, this acceptance of the abortion status quo is even a greater sign of the Power of Darkness than the bizarre behavior of a few opponents.
