He makes an excellent point that I have believed for a long time.
  • They will admit that a child in the womb is really a person. They will admit that abortion is, fundamentally, the killing of a human being . And it will not change their opinion one jot. Within my lifetime, the pro-aborts will argue—calmly, rationally—for murdering unborn babies.*
I know a few friends that had abortions. One of them was before Roe v Wade and had to travel to Canada for the procedure. All of them knew they were killing a baby, that it was a person. It didn’t matter. One of them even commented, it’s ok, I can make more.
When the pro life movement continues to try to get them to see that they are killing a human person, thinking that if this woman would just realize it she wouldn’t abort, I shake my head no. They already know that. They don’t care, they can make more…what we need to work on is changing the values placed on humans, so that one day everyone will look in horror at abortion because babies have such a high value that the thought itself becomes horrific.

I’m old and it won’t happen in my lifetime but I see signs…itty bitty ones that society is swinging away from I can just make more. As human numbers continue to shrink, it may become apparent that we can’t just suddenly make more. 🤔

And thats why I disagree with seeing the murderer as a victim and those that support it being legal as misguided.

It does work on women who are already ambivalent about the abortion. “I Lived on Parker Avenue” makes this point pretty well.

Sadly I can understand that there are a lot of women who are so desensitized and possibly angry about the situation they find themselves in that they rationalize murder. If the government permitted us to murder other classes of people, you’d be seeing a bunch more murders out there.

It would be good to frame this up as a human rights SJW issue. That is what ultimately got me to move away from the mindset of “I wouldn’t get an abortion myself but I don’t feel like I can impose my view on others.” If one is to stand up for the rights of the oppressed, such as political prisoners, victims of racial discrimination, etc, there is nobody more oppressed than a helpless baby in a womb who has done nothing bad and whom the government says it’s okay for its mother to kill.
