Makes my skin crawl, to be honest. Joke or not, taking it to seriously or not, my gut reaction is its disgusting.

Not in my area. Honestly, getting slapped with that meme is more likely to get people thinking you’re disturbed and need to be ostracized.

Say what you want, but pedobear is a cute little teddy bear pedophile. Some of us find him disturbing and tasteless, while others aren’t bothered by him. After all it’s all a joke. I think it’s one of those “memes” which should die. Besides, as mentioned, there are real Japanese memes such as Domo-kun who is not a pedo and is the official NHK mascot.
 
It is very common for trolling homosexuals and pedophiles to use the word “bear” in their screen names. It’s a good thing to have people more sensitized to the bear stuff. Hairy Bear. Papa Bear. Huggy Bear. PedoBear is performing a service, like the South Park NAMBLA episode and the Family Guy dirty old pedo-man. Perps are always on the prowl, and raising consciousness is wonderful. imho
