Oplatki Christmas Tradition

Has anyone ever used oplatkis on Christmas Eve? I just discovered it a few weeks ago while browsing the Catholic Company website, and I was able to pick some up from a local shop yesterday. I’ll be the one leading the “ceremony” in my house, and I have some other ideas I might want to incorporate. My family has a Polish background on my mother’s side, but she’d never heard of this either until I told her.

How have you used them?
 
I think this is one of those things with lots of variations depending on the family. In my family we would pass the wafer around. My father would start by breaking off a piece. Then from his piece he would break off smaller pieces for my mother; he would hand her the piece along with a prayer (or wish, if you prefer) for her. Then he would do the same with my brother and me. Then my mother would take the large part that was left, break off her piece of it, and do the same. Then my brother and I. If there were guests present they also followed suit.
