Instead of hijacking the thread on CVs, I prefer to start a thread. Here we will discuss communities founded by married, divorced, or widowed persons and unwed mothers.

Mother Antonia Brenner, foundress of The Eudist Servants of the 11th hour, (prison ministry) twice divorced. This congregation welcomes older candidates.

St. Jane Frances de Chantal, co-foundress of the Visitation of Holy Mary Order, widow.

St. Marguerite d’Youville, widow, foundress of The Order of Sisters of Charity of Montreal,
commonly know as the Grey Nuns.
 
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton was a widow and founded an order.

Passionist Sisters of St. Paul of the Cross was started by a married woman to help change the lives of prostitutes in Italy about 150 years ago.

There is also the Sisters of Misercorde a canadian order whose foundress took in pregant women and girls and was a widow.
Think they have a convent still in the US.They are in Canada.Then there is the Sisters of Christian Love.They are right here in the US.Their foundress was married and later widowed.Then she joined the Felician Sisters and later founded her own community.Think they are in Detroit they have a website. A lot of widowers and widows have founded communities over the century;probably too many to name.
