Hello everyone,

I asked a question similar to this before (when there was still an Eastern Christianity forum), but since the change I thought I’d try again. I really want to see the various ordinaries for the liturgical celebrations (Divine Liturgy, Qurbono, et cetera) that way I can compare the ones used by different eastern catholic churches. I would, however, prefer the ordinaries to be bilingual if possible - with the traditional liturgical language & the vernacular. Please can someone help me.

Do you mean the Liturgical Books ?

If so you may find them in the various book shops attached to the Churches

Here you go! This link contains the ordinaries of the following liturgies:
  • The Liturgy of St. Basil
  • The Chaldean Mass
  • The Order of the Divine and Holy Liturgy of Our Father Among the Saints Gregory the Theologian (or Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts)
  • The Liturgy of St. James
  • The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom
  • The Liturgy of St. Mark
  • The Holy Qorbono

Unfortunately, only the Chaldean Mass is included in bilingual form, but the site should cover everything in English at least.

Catholig,

Not sure why you want the liturgical language and vernacular versions, unless you are polylingual and able to compare translations.

I’m uncertain of the currency of the ECPA site, as it hasn’t been worked a lot lately because of other demands on the time of the site’s webmaster. (The Chaldean text linked there is definitely out of date)

The following links are to Eastern and Oriental Liturgies used by Catholics and Orthodox of the Church indicated. (As a general rule, distinctions in text between counterpart Churches will be limited to the diptychs or hierarchical commemorations.) The links vary in content: some are text only, others are photo sequences or videos, some include both text and audio-visual content. In a few select instances, links are to narrative descriptions, discussions, or explanations of particular excellence. (This list can and should be further expanded.)

Be patient, some of the sites are slow to load. In the case of linked pages to Donald Wyckoff’s Spasi Hospodi site (several of those below), “next page” links are situated at the very bottom center of each page - not especially prominent - mixed in among links to the guestbook, etc. These links were all active when last checked, if any don’t work, please let me know.

Many years,

Neil (Note that the above list is not updated to include the recently Revised Divine Liturgy text of the Ruthenian Metropolia)

Irish Melkite: you might want to add this to your list. It’s the main part of the useful work of Daoud now online with a lot of the Ethiopian anaphoras.

The Liturgy of the Ethiopian Church
Thanks very much 👍

I actually need to do some work on the list - the only recent update is that of the Chaldean Raza and there are some additional texts out there now which I should add - as well as the Presanctified and St Basil Byzantine Liturgies.

Many years,

Neil
