Ordination, laying hands on

In a Mass for the ordination of several priests, is it proper for the ordinandi to lay hands on one another after the bishop and other priests present lay hands on them?

No; if memory serves, the rite does not envision this action. I can’t recall, offhand, when the rite sees the ordinand as essentially having been ordained, but my recollection is that it hasn’t yet occurred at this point. Therefore, it would make no sense for the ordinands to lay hands on each other at this point in the rite.

No, it’s not appropriate, because they are not yet priests.

After the laying on of hands is the prayer of ordination. They are not priests until they have had hands layed on them, AND the prayer of ordination is prayed. Form and matter, yo.

There may be a difference (at least, in appearance) if you’re dealing with religious order priests vs. diocesan. I think there are orders that will have other priests, bishops, concelebrants all place hands on the ordinandi in prayer as a “fraternal sign” of their order.

Note, however, that these are not fellow ordinandi laying hands on one another.
