This is my first post here at Catholic answers, but I look forward to contributing in the future. In a little less than two months I’ll be presenting a paper at a conference on the topic of Mary and Evangelization.

Evangelization is the umbrella topic of the paper within the context of two church approved apparitions, which really intertwine in both message and lives of the seers. The apparitions are the focus of part one with part two an emphasis on the new evangelization and the invocation of Marya as the “Star of Evangelization”.

I just completed JP2’s Novo Millennio Ineunte and am wondering if perhaps anyone here would have suggestions on the topic.

I’m specifically concerned with the origin of the phrase “the new evangelization” but also the origin of Mary as Star of Evangelization.

Any help or referrals to encyclicals would be appreciated. I have already searched the Vatican website, and will return to go through more extensively upon completion of part I of my paper.

Thanks to anyone who can p(name removed by moderator)oint me in the direction of answering my questions.

Are you referring to Our Lady of Fatima and St. Faustina as to the apparitions? If you are inquiring about St. Faustina, the “Divine Mercy” and her visions were of personal interest to Pope John Paul since the early days. It was he who began the informative process in 1965 which led to her eventual beatification and then canonization in 2000. If this is what you are interested in, then I can be of some help. If not, the Apologist on call can assist.

Marion:I have read nothing of the New Evangilization but I Imagine it is the preaching that directs all prayer to Jesus going through the intercession of Mary. Its not new to pray in this way however as policy all Catholics should pray in this way and be aware of what Mary has said. That Jesus wishes that all prayers directed to Him should go through the intercession of Mary.

I don’t want to disclose both of the apparitions, just for the sake of not wanting to put my paper out there before it is written and published, but one of the apparitions I am focusing on is Guadalupe.
