ORLANDO, April 25 (CNA) - Officials of the Diocese of Orlando are expected to visit a local shopand verify a marble statue of the Virgin Mary that has allegedly shed ablack tear.

The owner of the statue said on tv that he couldn’t sell it now, not for any price, because he was afraid he would go to Purgatory if he did.

I want to go see it… it’s just a few miles away from where I live!!!

I don’t mean to be a party pooper, but I wish there would be lines of folks waiting to get into the adoration chapels to adore Jesus, instead people travel miles and miles to witness a weeping statue. Is it just me or does something seem wrong with this? I’m open to correction if I’m wrong, but it just saddens me for some reason.

I agree totally.

I agreed with you guys on one point that people should visit Jesus at their churchs’ Chapels.

However, God call people to have a conversion of heart and faith by different means. If this is a miracle from God, He surely uses it to draw people to Him by mean of Virgin Mary. After all, we as Catholic do believe that Our Bless Virgin Mary has helped bring many souls to Jesus. I am one of them. So, let pray that whoever travel thousands of miles to see this event will open up their heart to God or strengthen their faith in Him.

I agree with this totally too. I had it in mind, but am not good with expressing what I wanted to say. I love our Lady and was drawn to conversion via her and her messages at a place she was appearing at the time. It is through her words that I started to read the Bible as a teen and pray the Rosary daily. I agree too, that Jesus sometimes gets neglected by his faithful in his Real Presence. I am seeing this first hand at my dd’s school.

Don’t get me wrong, I love our Lady dearly and am very devoted to her. Her presence travels with me and keeps watch over me especially in the area of purity. The intersting thing I’ve found about devotion to our Lady is this: when I first converted I relied heavily on her and was very scared of much of the newness of the Catholic church culturally. Sometimes I would be amazed at the strong feelings I had for hour Lady and how much I relied on her and would often pray for discerment from Jesus, but the feelings grew.

Over time she beagn to grant me a burning for the Eucharist and it’s almost as if she let herself fade into the background slowly and the passion of Jesus came alive until HE was all I wanted. I believe this is what she wants.

Now I bring that up because I feel that is the Blessed Virgins goal and mission is to give us a burning for Jesus Christ to the point that it’s hard to stay away from the adoration chapel. As with the statues and miracles, if it’s from God I want to see the fruit, that is folks spending time with Jesus in the blessed sacrament, people going to confession and truely worshipping our Lord.

I believe that would be the only reason for a miracle, to be converted to Jesus Christ and His church. For some reason I get chills from these manifestations, perhaps a few are real, but where is the fruit? People spend thousands of dollars to travel here and there to see something miracoulous yet a beautiful miracle awaits us all in every adoration chapel and that is Jesus HImself.

Michael,
I will have to say that our Lady did the same for me too. She lead me to Jesus and than to Jesus in the Eucharist. It is too long to explain, but I would spend two hours daily before the Blessed Sacrament for two or more years. I was single and could not work, so I prayed all the time literally. I too am skeptical of many apparitions, but you have to admit the Lourdes and Fatima also had many who were skeptical, but the conversions and miracles were many as well as the message very profound and true. I do believe that the Lord is sending his mother to be an evangelist in todays world to prepare the way for his Second Coming. Anyone who has a devotion to our Lady has a great love for her Son who she magnifies. She did it for me even when I stopped praying the Rosary daily and just wanted to concentrate on Jesus because I was influenced by a protestant friend. I realize now that in the Rosary, I did learn about Jesus. I think part of many Catholic’s problem is what this protestant friend told me that was true about me at the time and that is there is a difference knowing about someone and knowing someone. I now know Jesus and he loves it that I love his and my Mother.

I agree that by their fruits we will know them and if something is from Heaven or not. Be patient with people, for we are all on different levels in our spirituality. I agree and boy do I wish and pray that all people, like you said, could see the miracle that happens at every Mass. I don’t understand except to say that they have not had their conversion yet or are on the way to increase faith.

One example that upset me and sadden me so much is what happened to me with my dd’s teacher. I mentioned it in other threads here, but we were discussing genuflecting before Jesus vs. bowing and I said to them that I tell my dd that Jesus is really present up there on the altar at disposition or in the Tabernacle and to see him standing there before her, what would she do? Do you know what these three ladys told me? They said Jesus wouldn’t care if we bowed or genuflected that it just didn’t matter. This is why I see so many people not genuflect and show adoration and respect to Jesus in his Real Presence. It just sadden me so much that they didn’t know that they should show reverence and respect and adoration to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. In this same church also we had a young 20 year old come to speak to the First Communion parents and she did so on the topic of the Eucharist. It was great and so profound. She was on love for Jesus and is to be a nun soon. She spoke of how we should be in awe before him and worship him in the Eucharist. How we should be silent in church and pray for all his gifts to us. As soon as she left, the church became a gym and it was so loud that I had to leave because it angered me that they did not hear what this girl said or respected those of us who wanted to pray as we waited for our kids to get out. It was so upseting. I guess this is how you feel too from what I read. All we can do is educate and pray for those that are still blind to Jesus’ Real Presence.

WOW:newidea:, is that what happened to me? I wondered why I wasn’t drawn to her as much as I used to be, I just feel that burning desire to be with Jesus, confession, adoration, mass, etc. I actually felt guilty because I couldn’t explain or understand my yearning for Jesus and not so much Her anymore. I guess since Her purpose is to bring us to Her Son then looks like she’s doing a heck of a job:thumbsup:!

Thank you, I sense you have a deep love for Jesus Christ and the Eucharist and I am guessing you also have a deep interior life as well. I am very devoted to Our Lady Of Fatima and well as Lourdes and a few others, a very few. For me I sense the sweetness and gentleness in our Blessed Mothers presence, it’s been there since I first cried out to her for help and it’s very specific to me. When I read or meditate on Fatima, Lourdes and certain appearences of our Lady to certain holy saints I sense the same pure sweetness. But I get chills at certain modern day events and apparitions and for me personally I stay away from these things. In some cases they seem to be distracting folks and keeping running eveywhere expect to Jesus and the confessional. I believe God can do these things and there are perhaps some which are legitimate, but for me it’s safe to stay with church approved miracles and apparitions.

Our blessed Lady is “making straight the path of the Lord” most certainly but I think it’s more in the invisible realm, but just as powerful. Fulton Sheen believed she would be responsible for bringing Muslims to Christ in the end, and AMAZING prophetic insight he had and I feel to be true.

Concerning miracles and apparitions, it seems the more a saint was to suffer the more visable were the appearences of our Lord and our Lady. It would seem that miracles and apparitions were common with those saints suffering tremendous trials, they literally needed to see beyond the veil to endure such pain. On the other hand, these casual miracles that keep occurring (and many fakes ones) bother me. Certain so called mystics who seems to have an audience whenever they want with Jesus and Mary at will and epecially when there is a crowed. I am not trying to be judegmental here, but God does not put on a show, HE IS HOLY and must be treated and respected as holy.

The Eucharist experience in your church saddens me and this is becoming all to common, where is the love for Jesus and His holiness? It seems that the more He sends graces, the more they are slapped away and beat down. the more He holds out His hands for us to come, the less we come. But a statue cries and everyone flocks to it, bows down and sits there forever? God give us light!

AMEN!! That is her whole mission and purpose, to make us burn for Jesus!! If the manifestation, apparition whatever ain’t doing that and it begins to atttract us to seers instead of Jesus or oil instead of Jesus, or pictures of Jesus in tacos then in my opinion beware and run quickly to the saftey of Jesus in the adoration room because* there is the ark of saftey when everything else is uncertain, Jesus is waiting!*
