Do Eastern Catholics also do the Orthodox custom of placing a scroll with the Absolution for the Dead with a deceased person’s body?

Have not experienced that custom in my own particular church (Byzantine-Ruthenian), but I’ve heard of this and believe it is of relatively recent origin.

There is a specific prayer of absolution included in the Byzantine funeral rite.

We tend to pray for the deceased at traditional intervals as a means of helping the souls along their journey …
