First of all FRDavid 96 thanks for the help about Orthodox orders. But I do know and have studied church history for many years. That being said Im not claiming I’m without error, but I am saying that even as Protestant I knew Catholic History very well and have studied it for years.
Maybe you wren’t saying I haven’t studied it, but my RCIA leader even told me that I know more about the Catholic faith than 90% of those at my parish.

On the flip side I humbly listen to my elders and leaders. I am always glad to listen to them-but I also know I’m knowledgeable of church history.

Also I was baptized as a Protestant and having studied church history for many years, even formally, my mistake about being a catechumen. I learned since I’m baptized I’m actually a candidate. Father, I respect your years of schooling btw. I hope you may continue to advice me. I hope someday to be a teacher in Medieval History.

Father, maybe you don’t mean so, but I took your words to be personally offensive.I have studied church history all my life and been supported by historians and priest.

Well I understand Father David96 being straight up but it wans’t fair for him to assume I don’t much about the church just because I’m a candidate.
As far as Orthodox orders you maybe right, I’m not disputing that now.
However, many Orthodox priest I would not show respect too as I would a Catholic priest. I’ve known many of them, and many of them will be critical of the Catholic Church. This I do not respect.

Given the literally thousands of people who join the Church - both Catechumens and Candidates, Fr.David’s post to you has a basis for his comments, and I don’t think “fair” is an issue. When he wrote he had no idea of your background.

Additionally, knowing history of the Church is a bit different than knowing praxis. Your question was and is a legitimate one, and likewise, his response is a legitimate one. Understanding the praxis of the Church over 20 centuries is a different line of study than is the history over the same period, even though there will be overlapping.

God bless you on your journey, and may both your faith and your knowledge continue to grow.

I would like to talk to FatherDavid96 himself.
If you left-click on his name, you will find a way to send a private message to him, and you may be able to set up a way to communicate with him outside the forum.

Thank you to whoever wrote that last reply. I need prayer.
Welcome to that club. We all do.

I assist on our RCIA team; and will put you on my prayer list, along with our Candidates and Catechumens.
