BrJimC on the “whyislam” has, I think, made several mistakes. For starters, the Dead Sea Scrolls preserve pretty much the entire Old Testament (or is it completely the entire Old Testament–somebody who knows more than I do should speak up here) and those manuscripts are the same as the later manuscripts. So the supposed destruction of the Old Testament in 70 AD never happened.
When Antiochus Epiphanes desecrated the temple and sparked the Maccabean revolt, he didn’t destroy it. He didn’t destroy all the Hebrew Scriptures either. So the charge that the Old Testament was rewritten from the Greek at that point doesn’t hold up either.
I’m fairly skeptical about BrJimC’s assertions about the supposed destruction of the Torah by Nebuchadnezzar as well. Given his track record, I would need a few sources and I haven’t heard any during my fairly long life.
