I heard Scott Hahn in the CAL archives mention the method of drawing straws to select priests under the Old Covenant. Is this in the Old Testament?

The Book of Act 1-26 " Then they gave LOTS to them, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was counted with the eleven apostles."

This is evidence that at least ONE person in the New Testement was chosen by LOTS to succeed Judas who betrayed our Lord.

Is this what you are refering to?

No, sorry, I should have been more clear. It was actually that passage from Acts that Scott Hahn was explaining. It was the 7/20/98 CAL radio show.

I transcribed Scott’s quote here: “What Peter and the other apostles do is basically draw straws, the same way Old Testament Israel did for assigning priestly authority in the Temple. And the straw is drawn by Matthias, he is the winner of it, and he replaces Judas…”

I was wondering if there was a passage or more in the OT about the lot drawing.
