Continuing the discussion from C.A.F Members not open to discord?:
Has anyone else noticed that any kind of discord isn’t really welcome here, that there is this sense of entitlement of members who have been here for way too long that have this need to fight any kind of discord be it an opinion or flat out a different point of view.
ูYeah, I sure have noticed that.
I agree with the original poster. There is certainly an unofficial majority point of view on display in every thread,
Yep.

And the flagging feature doesn’t help. It puts enormous power in the hands of the majority, completely regardless of whether the majority are substantially in the right or whether they are fair toward dissenters. As I see it, that’s not moderation anymore, it’s rule by oppression.
But of course there are other Catholic forums with completely different points of view.
Which ones? I could Google of course, but I’d like to hear of other’s experiences on other forums.

Considering that an extremely large portion of longtime members didn’t make the transition to the new format and left soon after (the majority of the clergy, for instance) there are a large number of newbies who are “popular”.

Thread title?
As you can see at the top of this thread, this is a continuation of an older thread which had a similar title, and which did not get not moderated (as far as I can tell) or removed. I assumed that by building on that apparently acceptable thread and not substantially deviating from its topic, I would be within forum guidelines. (And yes I have read the forum guidelines.)

I think it would be good to discuss Catholicism more openly. Too much policing i would say. There could be a certain part of the forum where we could really discuss all things negative or positive without being banned etc.

I’m surprised to hear that. I had the impression that the webmaster(s) took care to “move” everyone and everything to the new platform. But it’s true that I don’t see any recent posts from people that did post regularly a few years ago.

Is a brief discussion of Catholic forums

Susipe Domine
http://www.suscipedomine.com/forum/index.php

This is a “traditional” Catholic site, but it has a large active forum.

Religious Forums

Is for any or all religions

Catholic Community Forum
http://www.catholicforum.com/forums/forum.php
Not sure what, if any, point of view it has. Note they have two categories: non-debate (information only) forums and debate forums. A good idea!

Fish Eaters: The Ways and Hows of Traditional Catholicism
https://www.fisheaters.com
It looks pretty traditional to me, but others call it liberal–see first link I posted above. It seems to be more of a one-person-run site, which attracts attacks on that person. I haven’t used it, so no opinion.

Christian Forums

Appears to be non-Catholic, but with a charismatic Catholic section

Interfaith
https://www.interfaith.org
All religions

I’m sure that there are a lot more!
