Did I read my Thomism right when he says there can only be one reality possible. Leaving out the possibility of crossing into other alternative realities? Now the Dalai Lama has addressed this and said there are not only other realities that are alternate but there are ways to cross over and enter these.

The only reality you should be concerned about is the one you are in, the one you KNOW exists. Why would a Catholic, or any Christian, care what the Dalai Lama believes?

How do you define reality? If reality means all that exists, or all that is true, then there is one reality, though it may have several aspects. If we define reality in a more restrictive sense, for example, one reality is the material universe and another reality is the spiritual world, and there may be others, then it could be said that there are other realities.

St Thomas Aquinas was a great man, philosopher and is a great Saint.

However, he was not a Quantum Physicist. But he was right that there can only be “one reality,” your reality. Reality is relative. My reality is different from your reality, even though we live in the same universe, same planet, same Faith.

Now let’s assume you could travel back in time and meet yourself. The two versions of you are looking at each other. You won’t see what your double sees and your double won’t see what you see. Your reality is different from your double’s reality. Now imagine that your past self is looking right at you, but you never had that memory from your past. This is an “alternate reality”, but really an alternate timeline or dimension. You and your double keep living out different lives, different realities. Possibly with different souls.

This is how Aquinas can still be 100% correct even if time travel and/or parallel dimensions exists.

Regards of how many “yous” exist, you are “you” and not anyone else.

God Bless

There is only one reality we can experience, and it will end when our eyes roll back in our heads.

If other realities are taught by the Dalai Lama, they are no concern of ours, any more than the other worlds taught in Mormonism.

Other realities do exist: the presence of our LORD, and life everlasting. Our duty as live human beings is to prepare for those.

God may have chosen to create another reality, and that would have been the only reality.
but he chose to make this reality we live in and it’s the only one.

God can only create one reality at a time.

I would not say the above (bolded). God can do whatever God wills. God has no limits. If God wanted to create a multiverse with alternate dimensions/universes, then God can do it.

God has not revealed everything (aka the true nature of Physics and the Universe) to use because we are not ready or worthy to know all that God knows. For example, when we first learned how to split the atom, what did we do? Made bombs. God knows we are not mature enough to learn all the secrets of the cosmos at once, which is why He didn’t reveal all to us in the Bible.

However, God has revealed what is needed for salvation, which is most important.

God Bless

:bigyikes:

“a multiverse with alternate dimensions/universes” would be one reality. 😃

It is my concern. I will know the word of God and will not have the wool pulled over my eyes.
