Hey!
Code:
I know that there are many people who dismiss the Ouiji Board as something that is less serious than a hangnail. When I was attending a Catholic high school, not a few of my fellow students--Catholic and non-Catholic--took the dangers of this "game" seriously. I'd like to tell everyone my story concerning the Board.

When I was a junior in high school, I had turned from the Church and was interested in paganism. One night, the girl who was teaching me about Wicca and paganism brought over her Ouiji Board, and we began to play with it. Nothing happened that night. However, over the next few weeks, I began to feel a hateful presence in my father's house. I felt constantly watched, and I was always looking over my shoulder, in my own house! I also constantly heard footsteps in the hallway that leads to my room, going back and forth, and the cupboards in the kitchen constantly banging. I also would hear whispers just outside my door. For a year and a half, I never went to sleep without my light on and the door *closed* and *locked*.
In high school, my parents were divorced and I was a latch-key kid. I was basically by myself most days of the week, as my father had to travel for the State. The boards under the carpet are so old that you can hear when someone is coming down the hallway.
All this menace ceased when I went off to college 4 hours away and my father still travelled for the State most of the week, so the house was empty most of the time. I’ve assumed that whatever my former friend and I called forth got bored and went its way.
I hope my story wakes those people who read it who don’t believe the Ouiji Board is a real spiritual danger. It’s foolish to put the Ouiji Board on the same level as Monopoly or Hungry Hungry Hippo. It’s not a game, for the precise reason that it is designed to call up spirits, and any spirit can masquerade as a “good” spirit.

I don’t think it has any power at all. I don’t believe in it.

I don’t have any scientific proof, but I have heard enough stories by those who got involve with the board that I want nothing to do with it. Why invite trouble? As I recall, The Exorcist was based on a true story of a young boy who got started by playing with an Ouija board.

from Wikipedia:

Fr. Gabriele Amorth (born May 1, 1925) is an Italian Roman Catholic priest and the senior exorcist of Vatican City.

Amorth was born in Modena, Italy in 1925. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest in 1954 and became an official Vatican exorcist in June 1986 under the tutelage of Father Candido Amantini.[1] He is a member of the Society of St. Paul, the Congregation founded by James Alberione in 1914.[2]

In 1990, he founded the International Association of Exorcists and was president until he retired, at 75, in the year 2000. He is now honorary president for life of the association

He attributes the number of exorcisms performed to his opinion that “People have lost the Faith, and superstition, magic, Satanism, or Ouija boards have taken its’ place, which then open all the doors to the presence of demons.”

The board does not have power, but engaging the spirit world is an act of the will, one is willfully inviting evil to be present and the board then becomes a conduet. I’m sure you could take a piece of cardboard and have similar phenomenon occurr.

After my Mom died my middle sister who was having problems dealing with my Mom’s passing, decided she wanted to get a Ouija Board and try and contact my Mom. She invited me out to have a seance with her kids. I declined. Later she told me they had contacted my Mom. In the beginning my Mom was answering questions and saying she missed everyone, but then they asked her what she looked like now and she told them that “she had horns”. This is not my Mom or her sense of humor. I really think they were conversing with a demon.

Ouija Boards are dangerous and are something to be avoided.

Before I became a Christian, I really had no religion but I dabbled in the Occult. I started in 9th grade with palmistry and numerology. I used ouija boards, told fortunes using cards, read palms, did people’s numbers, and acted as medium in seances. I made my own ouija board out of pieces of paper, each with a letter on it, a yes and a no, laid out on a table in a circle and used a glass for the pointer. These home-made boards are more powerful, magically speaking, than using a store-bought one because you have invested your ‘self’ into it’s production. Speaking theologically, there is increased willfulness in inviting evil in the act of deliberately making the board in addition to its use.

My first year at college, I called up something that called itself the Devil and there followed the two most terrifying days of my life. I’ve had a few ‘terrifying’ incidents, like going over a cliff in a car, and this was far, far, far more terrifying than the prospect of immediate death. Words cannot describe the depths of this terror, this oozing evil. It was only the intervention of a young man (May God bless you, Bob) who claimed that Jesus walked with him and who prayed that Jesus would make it go away, that got this ‘thing’ to leave me alone. I really don’t like talking about the details since it seems to push the ‘door’ ajar again and strange things start happening around me. Even this much is making the hair on my arms lift and I’m feeling very uneasy. (I remind myself that even a baby Christian can put the Devil to flight!)

Since then, in various places, I have had problems with poltergeist activity and here in my current house, I had a ‘presence’ that also manifested a bad smell. Even my pets noticed it and would not go into certain areas of the house. I had to go through the house with holy water and blessed salt, praying and placed a blessed crucifix in almost every room. Thank God, it is gone now.

This is 37 years after the incident and the complete abandonment/avoidance of the occult and 27 years after my baptism and I’m still being plagued.

It is so hard to close that door once it has been opened.

Jesus is my Rock, my Fortress, my Deliverer.
In Him do I Trust.

I think you would find help in reading Moira Noonan’s book. And, I believe she cooperates in a deliverance ministry. I’ll look for a website.

spiritbattleforsouls.org/index.html

Here’s her website. It looks like you can email her through the website. And, it has links to the Fathers of Mercy healing ministry. Father Crotty does deliverance services. I know one of my friends went to him.

My boss is very into Tarot and collects decks. She isn’t religious at all - she’s a secular Jew (actually, I know more about the Jewish faith than she does). She’s never pressed me into trying them and has always been respectful of my faith. I hope and pray that she gives this practice up since I think it could be dangerous.

I believe it is VERY dangerous. Why do you think the Church forbids such involvement? It can be an AVENUE for satanic suppression and very occassionally even Satanic possession. In essense one is opening the door to the occult. NOT WISE!!! My mom thought so too and this is going years back. When my friends and I were fooling around with it in Jr. High, she took it and threw it in the dumpster. Said to me, “Nope, no more of that, too dangerous.”

I recently read his book. I couldn’t find anything about Quija boards in it! Let me know where to find that. I just wrote a big paper on it but had to use other sources because I could find it in his book! thanks!
