I read my bible, and I believe in what it says … the second coming is not far off.
 
Oh, for goodness sake. People have been saying the same things over the past 2,000 years. What makes you think that people and society are any worse today than they were 100, 200, 500 or 1,000 years ago? Some of the paragons of Western Civilization were truly deplorable people. They were people of their times, just as we are of ours. 227 years ago, French people were looting Churches and murdering bishops, priests, nuns and religious members (not to mention their own king and a multitude of their own people). When have we seen that in our day and age?
 
This is a very good reminder. Having lived through and watched “popular culture” turn into a sick, twisted, immoral and hyper-sexualized “culture” for too many, we need to be reminded of a simple fact: growing up in the late 1950s and 1960s, The Church, and religion in general, was respected by the media, and lived out more in our daily lives. I was not offended if a neighbor said, “You should be ashamed of yourself.” if I acted badly. Today:

“I no longer want to feel ashamed or guilty or sinful ever again.” This is poisonous to the body and soul.

And this did not happen without the conscious acts of individuals who wanted to tear apart the family and neighborly love.

You always insinuate that there is/was a “group” who has planned to overturn the established norms of society, yet never provide any evidence. Why?

  1. The ease of receiving and the numbers of abortion around the world, killing millions of God’s babies every year.
  2. Sexual deviation, pornography, female slavery etc - never has been anything close to the degree and instances of these sins.
  3. Materialism - we consume more and more and want more and more “stuff” while we disregard the fact that we are our brothers keeper.
As a Catholic you should know God is not going to put up with this indefinitely and we will pay for our sins both here and in purgatory…

If we make it to Purgatory. I put limited credence in the idea that Christ may be coming soon, because of the four listed above.

You ignore the social upheaval in France that happened beforehand.

Society as a whole is obviously less well-ordered today than it was even 30 years ago, so long as we assume a Christian ideal.

Frankly, we’ve become so bizarre that men who think they’re women are cherished as some sort of dear and sacred minority who should be celebrated, while Cookie Monster is censored by PBS for being a glutton. Men can “marry” men, but don’t you dare even begin to permit your children to be exposed to a sweet-eating Muppet.

Everything from education to personal morality to what sort of hobbies one pursues have all been eviscerated of any sort of integrity or deeper purpose, and our popular culture is pornographic, crass, vicious, and completely atheistic. Relativism is viewed as being an intellectually sound method of understanding reality, and critical thought and right reason have been thrown away in favor of emotions and feelings and self-centered pleasure.

While I agree there has been no ideal time, to state that we are no better or worse than the past is an absolutely insane conclusion … again, if one happens to assume a Christian ideal.
