Nothing you have said here refutes my two observations. Neither a private revelation itself nor a pope’s personal opinion about it can obligate anyone morally. That is why no pope has asserted any of Our Lady’s suggestions as morally binding. I agree that her advice is well-founded and ordered to salutary ends and that we do well to follow it, but it cannot be morally obligatory according to the teaching of the Magisterium.Noted, however it also must be understood with all due respect as we proof-read the Vaticans statement, that it can be noticed, Our Most Blessed Mothers words in the First two parts of the Secret, are their, for all to see and read. However, where are her words for the Third Secret? Certainly we arn’t to assume the Third Secret was a paraphrase of a paraphrase, when in fact the First and Second were not.
While I have little doubt of the devotion to Our Lady by Blessed JP-II or Pope Benedict XVI. In fact Pope Benedict XVI clearly stated, Read the message of Fatima, Know the message of Fatima, and Live the message of Fatima. So then we can assume this isn’t a take it or leave senerio, I do believe that seems to lack correct understanding of exactly what the Pope is saying.
To further state Our Lady isn’t part of the “Magisterium” seems to be lacking IMHO. For she is the “Neck” of the Mystical Body of Christ whom is the Head, the Heart being the Holy Spirit and the Body being the elect/laity…correctly stated. Not sure how one would seperate one from the other, and then give the Magisterium a level of greater significance? In fact I find that alarming.
However one may choose to view this period granted of “Divine Mercy” or view the message of Fatima. It must be viewed in perspective.
We cannot assume we know what the Pope knows. So, whatever choice they have made.is to be respected, period. Saint Anselm said; “The bark of the Church may be swept by the waves, but it can never sink, because Christ is there. When the Church is in greatest need, Christ comes to its help by miracles, or by raising up saintly men to strengthen and purify it.”
“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for thee that thy faith may not fail; and when once thou hast turned again, strengthen thy brethren.” (Lk. 22:31-33)
“Behold, I am with you all days, even unto the consummation of the world” (Matthew 28:20). As the Apostles were not to live to the end of the world, Christ must have then been addressing them as representatives of his perpetual church to come, knowing that the Mystical Body of Christ would continue just as it has through Apostolic Succession till the end of time, and it has done exactly this for 2000-years in the face of all evils. And that the gates of hell would not, nor could not prevail, Here it is safe to state Jesus Christ, meant all the power of the devil, all kinds of attacks, physical violence as well as false teaching. Christ promises here that the Church would be assailed always, but never overcome.
Thus we come back to a well thought out post from earlier…
1.make your morning offering
2.pray the rosary
3.wear a scapular
4.1st saturdays of reparation
5. make everything a sacrifice, offer all up in reparation
Penance , Penance, Reparation!!!
Follow the peace plan from Heaven.
Personally I would take this part very serious. For the simple reason being that correctly understood this is the time of Divine Mercy, so too then, what must follow is the judgement. To continue to put off today what you somehow “assume” you will have time to do tommorrow? I can’t grasp that logic. Tommorrow may not be here for you.
We know what the church has dictated you must do. No-where has She stated “do as little as possible”. Very much on the contrary. The question that begs to be asked…is what “must” you do…“exactly”?
Peace
And on that topic, colorful imagery notwithstanding, teaching authority was given by Christ to Peter, the Apostles in union with him, and their successors. This Petrine [authoritarian] dimension of the Church is at the service of the Marian [matriarchal] dimension but there is a distinction of mission between them.
