"The small number of souls who, hidden, will preserve the treasure of the Faith and the virtues will suffer an unspeakably cruel and prolonged martyrdom. Many of them will succumb to death from the violence of their sufferings, and those who sacrifice themselves for Church and Country will be counted as martyrs.
The fifth reason that the lamp was extinguished is due to the laxity and the negligence of those who possess great wealth, who will indifferently stand by and watch the Church being oppressed, virtue being persecuted, and the triumph of the Devil, without piously employing their riches for the destruction of this evil and the restoration of the Faith.
What do you think the virtues in the Our Lady of Good Success’ apparitions could refer to?

“The small number of souls who, hidden, will preserve the treasure of the Faith and practice virtue will suffer a cruel, unspeakable and prolonged martyrdom. Many of them will succumb to death from the violence of their sufferings, and those who sacrifice themselves for the Church and their country will be counted as martyrs.”

Modern Catholic Dictionary:

Virtue. A good habit that enables a person to act according to right reason enlightened by faith. Also called an operative good habit, it makes its possessor a good person and his or her actions also good. (Etym. Latin virtus, virility, strength of character, manliness.)

All you holy martyrs, pray for us!

Personally, I can relate to what was said about the virtuous suffering a prolonged martyrdom. Lately, I have added many fulfilling devotions and with them has come declining (hopefully getting better in the future) health, misunderstandings, and anguish/doubts that come and go. Martyrdom in this case refers to all the sufferings that go with trying to live more virtuously, in order to witness to the truth of Christianity in this world.

I pray that all who can relate will continue the good fight 🙂

The world tends to persecute the holy, remember?

It says so in Scripture…

I am unfamiliar with Our Lady of Good Success. (Maybe that’s why I have had so little success lately).

What is the status in terms of Church approval?
I am pretty sure there is acceptance of honor to Our Lady under this title, but…

specifically, is there Church acceptance of part, or all, of this as “approved private revelation”? If so, which parts? The reason I ask this is that sometimes the Church has granted approval of a private devotion/private revelation, but…

then other revelations come later, which the Church has not evaluated. Even if there is or was approval of a “private revelation”, I want to know if the information in this thread were related as part of that approval, or disclosed later.

Is there acceptance by the Church of a supernatural appearance by Mary? If so, where?
I ask this, because the primary focus appears to be Ecuador, but there is information about devotion in the Phillipines, and Spain. I would be interested, because I am not sure which local bishop would have responsibility - assuming the Vatican has not taken a position. Or has it?
