We had a group of RCIA candidates that received the Sacraments this past Easter but they are still hungry for more knowledge of our Catholic faith. Our faith of course is so rich we could study Scripture, the saints, the catechism, various periodicals, church history----you name it.

We’re looking for a name for our group. “Post-RCIA Catholic Learning Group” seems a little weird to me so that’s out (😃 ).

What could we call ourselves? I’m hoping for something that can catch the attention of your average Joe (apology to those named Joe out there 😉 ) in the weekly bulletin.

Thoughts?

We have “Adult Religious Education” as a department in our parish just as we have it for young children, youth and teens. People here just refer to the lectures and lessons associated with it as “adult RE.” It makes sense to them since they already know about “RE” for the kids.

We have had other groups that are not strictly about “education” such as “Visions” for younger adults (single or married), “Young Marrieds” and more. I think that if your group will be about adult education that you should state something like that in the title. As a convert, I was not pleased when searching for something and the title in the bulletin was not descriptive and everyone else just knew what it was. I think the same would apply for new people moving into a parish.

the actual name for this period is mystagogy, (study of the mysteries). maybe we should hop over to the Tshirt thread and get a good slogan and logo for this group. besides deep reflection on Easter, the sacraments and “hey, what just happened to me?” this should also be a time when the group is incorporated into parish life and ministries so maybe look for some action there.

Technically it’s a Small Christian Community.
