I am trying to learn more about the saints and have a copy of ”The Oxford Dictionary of Saints” by David Hugh Farmer.” The book does not seem to have an imprimatur. Does anyone know if it is an approved resource for Catholics, if one should have any concerns about its content?

Wikipedia has articles that are quite accurate in some regards because the research is cited with valid sources.

Use the desktop version and look at the box on the Christian mysticism page. You should see how “invoking mystic saints” redirects to a page that explains how they are summoned to assist us.

The Christian martyrdom page also has information that may be to your liking. Just make sure that if a fact on Wikipedia stands out, you click the sources associated, they are in [x] x = number format

The overall accuracy of Wikipedia articles (when studied) showed 80% accuracy as oppose to other encyclopedias which were in the 90% range.
