I came across some info on Padre Pio that he is known to be in two locations at one time. What do people know about this? Has this been a documented case or is this second hand reporting? Thanks all.

I don’t recall the book, but I think I remember that he appeared in the sky in front of a bomber formation and directed them away from bombing a town, and they instead bombed an empty field. Later some pilots recognized his picture and figured out who it was.

Another story is that he suddenly appeared in a foxhole where a soldier was hiding during a shelling, threw the soldier out just before a shell exploded in the hole, and then years later when the former soldier randomly came across padre pio, they recognized each other and padre pio said something like “wasn’t that a day!”

I also remember Fr Parente giving a talk in which he saw Padre Pio in his cell on a hot evening covered in blankets shivering greatly. He said that the great Saint was at the ame time praying up a high mountain.
God bless

For a long time I was a little skeptical of the claims of the reported bi-location of padre pio…

That is, until I read the book “Padre Pio Under Investigation.” The subject of the book was centered on a document that has been hidden in vatican archives, until recently, is now available to the public.

It was actually very interesting. The document is an investigation report from a priest sent by the vatican to examine padre pio. The investigator asked padre pio directly about everything miraculous attributed to him, (and to padre pio’s dismay) examined his stigmata. Padre Pio said something along the lines afterwords the examination of his stigmata, “Oh how I have felt the burden of obedience today.”

Anyway, padre pio told the investigator that Jesus, Mary and St. Francis sometimes appear to him, telling him wisdom, and even sometimes admonishing him. The investigator smelled roses during the interview and asked where they were coming from. Padre pio told him that he did not know, and that there was nothing but soap in his cell (almost as if he was attributing the rose smell to the soap).

The Investigator also asked him directly of the claims that he has bi-located. From my memory Padre Pio said something like this, “When these things happen, I do not dwell on it very much, but I simply accept what God gives me and move on. [When bi-location occurs] I do not know if I am physically transported, or if I just become present somewhere else with my consciousness.” He did not say it like this, I am just paraphrasing from memory.

Anyway, Padre Pio affirms that he has bi-located before. Padre Pio also never talked about these miraculous occurrences with others, and was reluctant to do so with the investigator. I was also surprised to discover that he does not dwell on the mystical occurrences either.

Padre Pio also revealed that he was suffering constantly. He was a man of deep, deep pain. His suffering was so extensive that he revealed that he never took on any penances, but simply accepted what the Lord gave him day to day. [Don’t let that give you an excuse though to skip doing penances].

The book was “Padre Pio Under Investigation.”

Thanks for the book recommendation, very interesting.

I am not a fan of Padre Pio. The documentaries I’ve seen (that I’ve managed to watch for only a few minutes) seem to be more mass hyteria than anything else.

There was a series on EWTN about him, and the priest doing the narrative said that Pio used to take children to his monastery cell to give them candy. Now, why would he do that? If a priest tried to do something like that today, he’d probably be locked up.

When Padre Pio died, his ‘gloves’ were removed and the “stimata” were all healed up. what was he covering his hands for?

I am skeptical about stuff like that and about the alleged confession sessions where he chased people away for some reason or other. I don’t understand this stuff. His superiors were very skeptical of him and had him hidden away for years because they did not approve what he was doing.

Now, he’s a canonized saint. Who do you believe?

As I understand it, Padre Pio’s was canonized for reasons other than his alleged ability to bi-locate or his alleged stigmata.

Apparently Padre Pio alluded on one occasion to having been in*** three ***places at once! (I think I read this in McCaffery’s book about the saint).

Marthe Robin, another victim soul, was asked about her bilocation. The answer she gave was very simple, but profound: “I travel in God.”

The book ‘Mysteries, Marvels, Miracles’ by Joan Carrol Cruz has an excellent chapter on bilocation.

with your admission about being a sceptic I feal sorry for you maybe you should read a little bit more than a few mins. before passing judgement on this saintly man

There are a few books about him…one is “Padre Pio…The True Story”…by C.Bernard Ruffin…very in depth book on his life…there were many other supernatural events in his life that others witnessed…another good read…“Padre Pio…Man of Hope” by Renzo Allegri…a good point to remember also…the Catholic Church does not make saints out of fakes and charlatans:)
