The Obelisk was 2000 years old when the Roman Empire stole it from Egypt as part of a conquest. It is where it is because it has been there so long it is part of history and the Cross is on top to show that Christ conquers all … pagan Romans, pagan Egyptians, and our hard hearts.

But if you were to look back further you would find that the symbol of the cross is also taken from older religions. The crucifix represents christ, the cross represents protection

I have an admission to make. I have been in a state of confusion for some time.I have got very mixed up in what I read genuinely seeking truth. I have decided to return to the Catholic faith and continue my journey where I began. There is so much more help available even on the net and on such forums as these which I will continue to use. I went on the net and looked up the catichism and started to read. Those pagan symbols did worry me and I spoke out of that worry, largely engineered by other sites Ive visited over time. Remeber also Ive just come out from my protestant journey and came out it very hurt. I believe The Lord let me go on this journey of the last 10 years or so, and He is bringing me home. I apologize for sounding off. It came out of a anger that Im sure will go quickly when I start my second and final journey as the catholic I was meant to be. Regards to seek

Yeah I got caught up in those websites and they get very carried away, very fast. Some people even claimed that the didn’t go to any churches on Sunday because the kept seeing “evil” pagan symbols all over the churches (all denominations). Theres a select few websites who know what their talking about BUT the rest is a bunch of conspiracy theorists.

I bet some of your ancestors were pagans. What does that make you? The wheel was invented by a pagan so I’m going to take them off my car. The alphabet was invented by pagans so I’m going to stop using it. Arabic numerals were intented by pagans so I’m going to stop using numbers. Money was invented by pagans so I’m going to tear up my paychecks. Pagans first realized the earth was round so I’m going to join the Flat Earth Society. Pagans first built houses so I’m going to start living outdoors.

This whole pagan thing is just nuts.
