Pain of Regret
I feel the pain of regret deep in my heart,
gnawing endlessly, never ever to depart.
The person I hurt has long passed away,
The hurt continues to linger inside me today.
I turn to Jesus, my all-loving Savior,
who can do anything for those in his favor.
I ask that in heaven this person may hear me,
so that I may express what I need to so dearly.
I close my eyes and envision this person
saying I am sorry for the harm that I have done
seeking understanding, forgiveness, and absolution.
I listen in my heart for any meaningful sensation.
A sense of love and peace fills my awaiting soul,
telling me I am forgiven and can become well.
I dearly thank the person and Jesus my friend,
for helping my wounded heart to begin to mend.
