I forgot to take last years palms over to the church before Ash Wednesday. Can I just throw them away or is there something else I should do with them?
 
You should not throw them away as they’ve been blessed. It is improper (or worse) to throw away blessed items.
 
Return them to their earthly elements. As mentioned, bury or burn. Or just hold onto them until next year. I forgot to take mine to church and will take them before next Ash Wednesday.

I burnt mine, as my parish had enough ashes and did not take any palms this year to make ashes.
