Pax everyone. I remember reading in one of these threads about contacting the Papal Nuncio (I think thats what it was called) about a Church that was having Jesse Jackson come talk at a Mass.

Could someone explain the rank of Nuncio and are there many of them or just one for the US? Is it a Cardinal or a Bishop?

How would one contact the Nuncio if they needed him/them?

Also, has anyone heard of the group De Fide? If you havent heard of these people yet, go to the website. Its at www.defide.com and they are helping to stop Corruption in the Church.

Go and join them in their effort, its free.

God Bless

The Nuncio is in Washington and is the Popes representative here in the US. Contacting the Nuncio should be after contacting the Bishop of the diocese and the Metropolitan. The address and I believe phone number can be found in the Catholic directory, your parish should have one.

Archbishop Gabriel Montalvo is the Papal Nuncio to the United States. The address of the Apostolic Nunciature, the equivalent of an embassy (in diplomatic terms), in the U.S. at 3339 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20008, tel. (202) 333-7121.

A papal nuncio is an ambassador from the Pope (& Vatican) to one or more countries and represents the Holy Father in those countries. For larger countries, a dedicated nuncio is assigned. For smaller countries, one nuncio may serve many countries.

He acts as a liaison between the Pope and the dicoese in the country as well as the Pope and the government of the country.

A papal nuncio is always of the dignity and orders of an archbishop.

Here is a website giving the US government view of the Holy See. URL: us.politinfo.com/Information/Country_Profiles/country_profile_128.html

I looked at the USCCB site and was dismayed to find no reference about the papal nuncio’s role in the Church in the United States (except an old archived post of his appointment.)

excellent thank you both for the information. I will keep this handy for future reference.

God Bless
