Does anyone know if Paraclete Press is faithful to the Magisterium of the Church? Or more specifically know anything about “The Way of Mary: Following Her Footsteps Toward God” by Mary Ford-Grabowsky? We have a lot of copies sitting on the shelves at our parish, but I haven’t had time to preview it. If it’s good, I want to give it to our catechists as an end of the year gift. The table of contents looks good, but, only having had time to read the preface, I’m a little skeptical. It speaks if the author’s encounter with a Mayan healer while on a mission trip, which she describes as the holiest situation of her life, and a subsequent healing. There was a statue of Mary in the church she was in, but, other than that, the whole episode seemed questionable to me. Not to mention, Mass should undoubtedly be the holiest situation she had ever been in in her life. Any thoughts?

It’s really hard to paint most Catholic publishers with a broad stroke. Even the best publisher might have an iffy book and even the worst publisher usually has some hidden gem. Your best bet is taking a look at it book by book.

Paraclete Press publishes many of Wayne Weible’s books on Medjugorje. For some, that is a strike against them. For others, it is a mark in their favor.

I’m not familiar with the book or author you mentioned. Sorry. There’s not even any reviews of it on Amazon.
