I thought I’d throw this out there. I’m trying to build up my arsenal of ‘things parents say’ (humorous or inspirational) to use on my kids when they’re older. Any recommendations for catholic-based parenting books or sites welcome too
Also wanted to ask for good clean catholic humor or any sites I can visit for this.
Thanks in advance for your (name removed by moderator)ut!
The phrases parents use? I can tell ya ONE kids use. One of the most prevalent starts about age 6 and continues to about age 25. That phrase being " I don’t know."
“Did ya pass the test today?”
“I dunno”
“Well do ya think ya mighta came close?”
“I dunno, maybe.”
“ok, who killed the hamster”
“I don’t know”
"he was fine this morning, and now he’s feet up, you mean he suddenly died of natural casuses?
“not sure”
“What time is practice?”
“I don’t know”
“Well, you were there wasn’t ya when it was announced?”
“Yeah but stuff was goin on.”
“Do you have a date to the prom?”
“I dunno”
“When ya reckon ya might know?”
“I don’t know, hard to say.”
Later on at the age of 25 my son was dating a really nice girl. We liked her, so after 2 years I asked him.
“so ya reckon ya might marry this girl?”
“I dunno”
"Why not?
“I don’t know, not thought about it”
“So when ya think you might give it some thought”
“I dunno”
Over the years I learned a few things:
“So dad you gonna get me a new bike?”
“I dunno, it depends”
“on what?”
“I dunno yet, when I figure it out I’ll tell ya”
“do you have some money to pay my cell bill”
“I don’t know”
“Are we goin on a vacation this year”
“I dunno, ask your momma”
“She said she doesn’t know, and told me to ask you”
“well how am I suppose to know if your momma doesn’t know?”
Finally he’s outta college and got a big time job. (true story)
“Hey dad, this is office is kinda like the house”
“really how so?”
“well nobody knows anything. I ask stuff and they say I don’t know I’ll hafta check”
