Hilton To Play Mother Teresa?
Socialite Paris Hilton has reportedly been asked to play celebrated humanitarian Mother Teresa in a movie biopic. Indian director T. Rajeevnath has contacted the hotel heiress about taking the lead role in his new film, which will chronicle the late nun’s life. He tells MTV.co.uk, “My agents in California have contacted Paris Hilton. Although there are several actresses willing to play the role of Mother Teresa, the most widely respected and loved person, the history of the actress who is finally chosen for the role would have to be analyzed thoroughly before she is chosen.”

I would hope so and this analization should knock her out of the running…seriously this women has had a sex scandal and loves to show off her body in the exact opposite way that Mother Teresa acted in her life so how could anyone even think about letting her play the role of such a beautiful spritual women is beyond me… I mean i know sex sells but come on it’s a story of MOTHER TERESA!

As long as the script is faithful to who Mother was perhaps playing Mother Theresa would convert her. :gopray:

This would be more of a stretch then Danny Devito playing Shaq. Of course translating the physical extremes to the pride vs humble extremes.

This must be a publicity stunt. Paris Hilton as Mother Theresa is hilarious and nobody could take the film seriously. Furthermore, I don’t think Paris Hilton really knows how to act.

I’ll believe it when I see it. This must be some sort of a joke.

I agree - everyone knows this is a role tailor made for Jessica Simpson. 😛

I dunno… the casting of Diana Rigg for the 1975 film In This House of Brede got a lot of attention since she had a reputation for being a sexpot. But apparently the casting worked and the film is moving (it got at least one person on the road to becoming a monk).

I doubt it. My guess is that Mother Teresa would hold out her arms and embrace Paris Hilton for who she is, a child of God, no different than any of us. That is what made Mother Teresa such a wonderful example of the beauty of virtue and forgiveness.

Admittedly, I had a similar initial reaction upon first hearing the news. But it didn’t take longer than a minute or two before it occurred to me that such a role might convert Ms. Hilton. Drew Mariani had a wonderful discussion about this very topic last week on his Relevant Radio show, and over the course of about 15 minutes, went from being absolutely disgusted by the news to seeing it as a potential calling for Paris Hilton, and praying for her conversion.

Anyway, who are we to judge? As much as we believe ourselves to be on the right track in our lives and strong in faith, I don’t doubt we each have plenty in our pasts we truly regret. Moments of shame and sinfulness.

Let us emulate Mother Teresa … and in doing so, Jesus … by not writing Paris of with a self-righteous flip of the wrist and a quick dismissal on the Catholic Answers forum. Let us instead embrace the potential of her conversion and pray for her precious soul … for it is, afterall, just as precious to God as any of our own.
