This is not meant to be a discussion on the pros and cons on parish Communion Services and their place in the weekday schedule. For now, they are permitted in our parish with permission of our Bishop.
Does anyone have a link to the official proper order of a Communion Service led by a layperson? I went to our regularly scheduled daily Mass yesterday, Father happened to be gone, and we had a Communion Service led by a layperson (EMHC). For the first time in a long time (I do not attend Communion Services) I noted what I felt were several parts that I wonder if they exist in the official order:
• the lay person kissed the Lectionary after he read the Gospel
• before we recited the Our Father, he said, “As we forgive others their sins, let us ask God’s for absolution.”
• After the Sign of Peace and prior to moving to the Tabernacle for the Eucharist, he comes down before the altar and faces it and we all recite the Gloria.
I would like to talk with Father about this however, I want to have any official order and any incorrect parts cited before I approach him. So please lead me to the citations…thank you kindly.
