Parishes are not a matter of personal choice. This is really offensive. You make these huge assumptions regarding the reason some of choose to attend Mass in another parish. You make the accusation that we are parish shopping, that we are not educated, that we did not make efforts to work within a parish, that we did not speak to the priest about our concerns, that we are ridiculous, and complain the loudest and don’t want to be part of the solution.
You have no idea, other than what we have written here as to our motives to change. You have no idea the amount of prayer, discernment, heartache that goes into a change like this.
It must be easy for you to sit on your high horse judging those around you.
If you don’t like your state government, you are free to move to another state. You don’t get to say that if you live in Washington state but you prefer the laws of Oregon state that you’re going to consider yourself a resident of Oregon regardless of which side of the state line your residence happens to be located. You can go ahead and think that way all you want. When it comes to any matter of law, only residence is going to matter and the 2 state governments are not going to give a hoot about what your personal preferences might be.
Whether you happen to like it or not, and whether it happens to be convenient for you or not makes no difference. Parishes are territories.
Parishes are territories independent of any anecdotal posts on CAF about “this is how my family likes to do things” or “this is what so-and-so told me.” No amount of CAF posts is going to change the fact that according to the Code of Canon Law parishes are territories.
