Admittedly, in my darkest moments, these wise words of others have not always been of much help. On the other hand, they have offered me comfort many times during my life, and perhaps may be of some solace to you as well.

Better to light one candle than curse the darkness.

Faith, hope, and love, these three, but the greatest of these is love.

When I was young, I admired people who were clever. Now that I am old, I admire people who are kind.

This too shall pass.

All wonderful words to live by.

If I may add to that:

The view is always better from the high road.

Thank you, Meltzerboy. I have enjoyed reading your posts over the years. Reading from time to time your posts about the Jewish faith, I’ve come to see how deeply it is connected, at many levels, to the Catholic faith. Ideas that I thought originated in Catholicism have more ancient roots! I have also appreciated your thoughtful and kind manner of writing.

I wish you all the best in the new year and always.

Thank you for your kind words, Beryllos, and double for you. Good health and much happiness in 2021 and beyond.
