First of all I hope you are all enjoying or enjoyed a Happy and reflective Easter. I did here down under.
I have a question regarding our Saturday night Mass. After moving to this regional town 3 months ago, I joined this parish and love it. The parishioners and Priest are fantastic and so welcoming!! We all get along, however we had an incident this past Saturday night Mass.
One of the ladies from the Parish council who is very active in our parish life and events was responsible for setting up and organising the schedule for the Mass etc. she got into trouble from another parishioner about the Paschal candle.
I was talking to her in the foyer after Mass when he interrupted and was quite loud and sounded very annoyed. He demanded to know why she decided that the Paschal candle be placed on a stand in the corner between the side of the altar and the baptismal font. He kept insisting that it should have been in the sacristy and how dare she hide Jesus away like that.
Iâm ashamed to say I had no idea what he was talking about. Is this what they call liturgical abuse, is that what he was inferring?
