GREAT FIFTH DAY, APPROACHING PASKHA

Today we have Great Fifth Day (Великий пяток) a holy day when is memoried the suffering on cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We will have Holy Paskha on Sunday. I greet all with Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, now in advance. Here is holy fifth day service of burial cloth of Christ:

You mean the Shroud of Turin? Which is the only known burial cloth of Jesus.

From OrthodoxWiki

The Epitaphios (Greek: Επιτάφιος, epitaphios, or Επιτάφιον, epitaphion; Slavonic: Плащаница, plashchanitsa; Arabic: نعش, naash) is an icon, today most often found as a large cloth, embroidered and often richly adorned, which is used during the services of Great Friday and Holy Saturday . It also exists in painted or mosaic form, on walls or panels.

This is a very important time for us, as you might have noticed Orthodox participation has ground down at the approach of Pascha, with just a few now signing in.

Some Orthodox discussion forums actually shut down or curtail their service at this time. Anyone who may be just a wee bit curious about Orthodox liturgical practices should get in to take a peek at this time, most parishes have services every day. Calling ahead is best.

I believe some of us shall return in Bright Week, following the Day of Resurrection.

God bless all of the Orthodox Christians this week as they commemorate the passion and death of Our Lord, and prepare to celebrate his glorious Resurrection. :gopray2:

Another great picture! Thanks for sharing it with us, Volodymyr.
We love the Orthodox (our other lung).

God bless you,
Paul
