Is it insulting to the Lord to pass on consolations and gifts if we offer it for others? How do you best deal with the darkness that follows? Tim
I am not quite sure understanding your question, but isn’t it true that God gives us gifts to serve mostly Him by serving others? Is it insulting to the Lord to pass on consolations and gifts if we offer it for others? How do you best deal with the darkness that follows? Tim
See, I’m pretty isolated and have met with resistance when seeking a ministry. This will take time to develope. During a given week, I only come across family, people at church and people at the store. So at this point I’m into offering by prayer my own consolations and gifts that God gives me to others. When I do this, the next day really sucks, I’m in a bad mood, everything goes wrong, temptations abound, what I refer to as darkness. Is the darkness because I’m insulting the Lord and not accepting grace or is it the price for such an offering? If it is acceptable, how do you get through the darkness without the Lord? I’m new to this and I’m sure someone here knows how to address this? Is it prideful to think that it can make a difference? Another thing, I was reminded about the St. deMontfort consrecration I did by my Priest hence merits are now distributed by God’s will through Mary, so is it futile to try to direct it towards an intention? Thanks, TimI am not quite sure understanding your question, but isn’t it true that God gives us gifts to serve mostly Him by serving others?
do you mean offer all the spirtual gifts/blessings/graces and consolations that are yours (because god has given them to you)…and offer them to god for others…like sinners, dying etc…Is it insulting to the Lord to pass on consolations and gifts if we offer it for others? How do you best deal with the darkness that follows? Tim
Tim, did it occur to you that God also allows you to have this happen to you in order to let you know that :So at this point I’m into offering by prayer my own consolations and gifts that God gives me to others. Look at the example of St. Faustina and the blessed Mother Teresa who had gone some darkness and how they determined to love God still. If it is acceptable, how do you get through the darkness without the Lord?
It is … only if the soul thinks he is the one who makes a difference and not by graces of God.Is it prideful to think that it can make a difference?
well, I don’t think it is futile. For example, some of the good deeds, sufferings, and merits are offered up to the Holy souls.Another thing, I was reminded about the St. deMontfort consrecration I did by my Priest hence merits are now distributed by God’s will through Mary, so is it futile to try to direct it towards an intention? Exactly, That is who I learned in from, St. Faustina, but she was a Saint able to handle the brief darkness and even physical suffering to the point of the cross itself. I’m a jerk, not a Saint, but have been giving so much I think I can start to withstand darkness for others, esp. for the one’s I have in mind. I figure through the hands of Mary and with the merits of Christ, these intentions can happen in a breath and a prayer. Maybe that is impatient and prideful, but God did it for me in a blink, why not for others. I agree ,in struggle, short prayers have helped, but I think to be able to do the rosary or divine mercy chaplet at such times is what to strive for as well as thanksgiving, which I am not yet at that point. I don’t what try to be want I’m not, but I want to do what I can. Thanks for understanding, Timdo you mean offer all the spirtual gifts/blessings/graces and consolations that are yours (because god has given them to you)…and offer them to god for others…like sinners, dying etc…
if this is what you mean then it is not insulting at all…in fact in the diary of saint faustina there are several entries where she herself did the exact same thing…
she offered all that to god and in return she got to suffer mentally all that the other person was suffering…whether they were thing sinful or blasphemous thoughts, far from god, unbelief in god etc…
god used her offered consolations/gifts/blessing/graces…to help some poor sinner and pull it back towards him…st faustina knew this so whatever she went through she knew that as she was enduring it so that she, together with god were helping some sinner…and the ‘darkness’ as you call it didn’t last forever…god didn’t leave her to suffer abandened…he never lets any of us endure more than we can handle…and he is always with us to help take the weight from our own cross when we find it too hard …if you check divine mercy website and websites about st faustina then you may find more about it…but it will probably be better to read the diary of st faustina…
personally to deal with the darkness that follows…no matter how abandoned you feel by god…no matter how much you question whether he is real…no matter what thoughts are going through your head just tell him over and over that you believe in him that you love him, that you want to help him (thank him for allowing him to let you help him), beg him to have mercy on souls and to support you,…
just make it into a short prayer that you can repeat over and over
like* jesus, mary and joseph, i love you, save souls,*
or god, the father, i love you, save souls, or god, the holy spirit, i love you, save souls, or blessed and adorable holy trinity, god the father, god the son jesus, and god the holy spirit, i love you, save souls,
is this what your question was about?..(or have i just rambled on about something that was totally nothing to do with what you asked about)
maybe father vincent in the ask an apologist section may give you better advice than we could…because as a priest he would be more qualified to advise you
ANGELIC PEACE

Some good advice for me to think about. I have this great feeling of time ticking away and the alarm is about to sound. I have to clear my mind, 3:00 is coming up. Thanks, TimTim, did it occur to you that God also allows you to have this happen to you in order to let you know that :
(1) you may understand how others have to go through and this will allow you to pray and love others more and more each day.
(2) you may learn to trust in the Lord and ask him to strengthen your faith.

It is … only if the soul thinks he is the one who makes a difference and not by graces of God.
The soul should also know that God works according to His time; therefore, the soul can pray but let God determine when the result should happen.
well, I don’t think it is futile. For example, some of the good deeds, sufferings, and merits are offered up to the Holy souls.
1 Every day feelings of comfort and belief, body and soul.Don’t understand the question.
what do you mean by consolations and gifts
what do you mean by pass it on
what do you mean by offer it for others
what do you mean by darkness?
I think we need to accept these gifts with great humility. We can share them with others. And if we “offer it up” for conversions of others, it is put to good use. I don’t think we will necessarily have spiritual attacks because we have done this.1 Every day feelings of comfort and belief, body and soul.
2 To ask the Lord to give it to others instead
3 Offer it for conversions like I had
4 spiritual attacks, afflictions mind, body, soul
Puzzleannie, While it is fresh in my mind, I want to elaborate on this “darkness”. Sometimes at night, around bedtime, everything starts to feel hopeless. It’s like a dark cloud desends. I don’t even want to move. I can say a St. Micheal, an Our Father, a couple Hail Mary’s, but not much else. Sometimes I just hold a rosary. It’s like a mental and spiritual paralysis. Prayer has broken it before, so I tend to think it is spiritual rather then mental. I know it sounds like depression, which I have and take meds for, but this is different. It’s so quick and I can feel it coming ahead of time. Thanks, Tim1 Every day feelings of comfort and belief, body and soul.
