Yesterday at the Palm Sunday Mass at our church, the Passion was read at the End of Mass rather than during the gospel reading. The priest read a different gospel reading and did his homily during the normal time. Is this wrong? This priest is pretty liberal: allowing children up to the alter during the consecration (is this wrong?), encouraging holding hands during the Our Father, etc.
People think I’m sometimes too orthodox, but is it too much to simply ask for the way the Mass was supposed to always be? I see nothing but fluff and other blasphemous “add ons” that take away from the true meaning of the Eucharist. It seems like wherever I go, Mass is more of a social gathering than a worship. What can I do? Should I approach the priest at this parish about all of this? Thanks a lot!!

Wow!! Where to begin. I don’t think you are too orthodox because you want to be part of a normal mass. I have never experienced the Passion being read at the end of the mass. I never saw children being asked to be part of the consecration, how absurd! I do believe that is wrong, holding hands is not allowed but I see this at my parish. I never do that because it is not correct. Speak with your parish priest, but if he pretty liberal you might be wasting your breath because he may just dismiss you. You might need to send a letter to your bishop and explain these abuses.
