‘Passion of the Christ’ actor Jim Caviezel returns to the silver screen for ‘Infidel’ — a film about the realities of Christian persecution

Looks like a must-watch film

What are the details?
According to the film’s official site, the film stars Jim Caviezel as an “American kidnapped while attending a conference in Cairo, who ends up in prison in Iran on spying charges.”

“After his own government turns its back on him, his wife goes to Iran, determined to get him out,” according to Deadline.

The film, set in the Middle East, is being carried by production and distribution company Cloudburst Entertainment, which was incorporated by former Pure Flix executives Steve Fedyski and Ken Rather.
This persecution, being jailed in Iran isn’t nearly as bad, imo, as what Christians are going through in some parts of the world (like Nigeria) but it is something and I’d look forward to seeing it.

I know many Christians loved Mel Gibson’s The Passion of Christ and some thought that the visualizations were a bit too much.

If this movie also goes into extreme visual graphics then I’ll skip it. Yes, I know it was portraying “reality” but, for me, it got close to being torture porn. I’d like to see this film but I’ll wait to read reviews. If it goes into visually displaying graphic torture, I won’t. In my view, the horror of torture can be done without actually showing every little detail.

Curious, did anyone else feel like Mels movie was too much?

To an atheist, I can see how it could be “torture porrn.”

To a devout Catholic, it is an expression of God’s love for us, and a reflection of that love is His willingness to suffer the depths of human wickedness and depravity.

In any case, this thread isnt about “The Passion,” but Jim Caviezel’s new movie, “Infidel.” The citation of his earlier work is simply a reference. Perhaps we should stay on topic.

Apologies. I seem to have some trouble separating the actor from his previous role and I shouldn’t do that.

I’m interested in the story line and hope it’s well done.

I’d go as far as to say I probably like more conventional depictions of Christ, something like “The Greatest Story Ever Told” or “King of Kings”, “The Robe”, these early 1960s dramas. Gibson largely took from the writings of Blessed Anne Katherine Emmerich:

And this is likely, quite off-topic from the movie of Caviezel in that. So, I won’t spend a lot of time talking about Mel Gibson. Caviezel also played St. Paul.

I don’t have all of my movies specifically straight; but something like the above. In it’s own way, I do like Jesus Christ Superstar. But my lack of appreciation may well be my error. Some things need to be seen.

This story is not very well known. Persecutions of Christians throughout the world is not covered by most of the media.
