My parish church is named for St. John the Baptist. Would our patronal feast day be the Nativity (June 24) or the Beheading (August 29)? If I had to guess, I would say the Nativity but does anyone know for sure?

Thank you.

Liturgical purposes. A parish has one patronal feast, and on that day, in the parish church itself, the day is celebrated as a Solemnity. There is only one such day in the liturgical year.

Usually, but not necessarily, a church dedicated to St. John the Baptist Beheaded will say something as much, e.g. the Italian church of San Giovanni Battista Decollato.
