Paul never went to Rome

I finally found one. I was speaking to a non-denominational yesterday. He says that he is in the process of starting a church “like the early ones.” Anyway, we spoke about Peter being pope. He had the usual lines, including that he never went to Rome. After we discussed this for a while, he told me that while Paul did go to Rome, it was not under his own free will and he was never able to organize the church there. Because of this, the Roman church never grew beyond a small christian community until the Roman Catholic Church was founded by Constantine…

It is a very easy read of the four most prominent Early Church Fathers, Ignatius of Antioc, Clement of Rome, Justin Martyr, and Ireneaus of Lyon. Bennett will tell your friend that what he found was the Early Church form of worship; it was and is the mass. Bennett was soon after welcomed into the Church himself, where he now worships like the early Church did.

Acts 29 puts paid to the idea that Paul

That should be Acts 28, not Acts 29.
(I’ve been spending way too much time on Acts 29, which is about a different missionary trip, and probably is a forgery.)
