1st point - this is basically saying it is all made up. The case has to be made and reconciled with 1st century movements and histories.
2nd point - there are people who believe all sorts of things. Daniel does appear to be talking about many years in the future but there is also the thinking that revelation is couched in present and future with the present acting as a cover for the future. Whebn the Romans attacked Jerusalem in 70 A.D. the historian Tacitus tells us that the Jews thought the previous prophecy was also about them :

4th point - well because as your point 1 asserts that if the promoters / rewriters / initiators of Christianity are trying to put Jesus as the central part of their made up theology within the Jewish population - the destruction of the temple would be something they would HAVE TO mention, use and basically hammer home. It is ready made ammunition to say hey the old world is gone - follow us. they don’t do that.
5th point - the tradition is that Saint John lived a very old life and was exiled to the island of Patmos, before anyone asserts Luke was written. The straight reading of some Gospels does infer that Jesus is coming back within a generation. That’s fair enough.
Some see that the cataclysmic destruction of the temple was what was referred to as the ending of the age. Perhaps after the temple fell, Christians started to see the ending of the old Covenant and the Catholic Church as the new Heavenly Kingdom.
Another view is that Jesus is quoting the old prophets who saw ‘one like a son of man coming in the clouds’. That prophecy refers to Daniel / Ezekiel who was in Heaven at the time of the vision. So if Jesus is quoting Daniel / Ezekiel then that meant he will be seen going to Heaven on the clouds. Jesus always saw himself as the ‘son of man’ and his ascension in Acts concurs pretty close to his promise. It would be interesting to start a topic on this and see what the different readings are.
