Hello, friends. I have a question: there is a Paulist Center in Boston (near where I live), and they are doing a rather large media campaign to raise awareness about their work, what they do, etc. I wonder if anyone can tell me a little about the Paulist fathers, and about Paulist Centers in general. They don’t seem to be like “regular” Catholics. Any thoughts?

Thanks! God bless.

As I recall, the Paulist Center in Boston is where the pro-abortion politicians like Senator Kerry are welcome to receive Communion.

I found this reference to the Paulist Fathers in the Catholic Encyclopedia (at New Advent):

newadvent.org/cathen/10368c.htm

I have known people who have been lay missionaries for the Paulists. They do seem to be more liberal “ecumenical” Catholics and I have heard they are into such things as “centered prayer” which can be more New Age than Catholic. But my understanding is that it is an accepted, sanctioned Catholic order of priests.
