Isn’t presumption a sin? Isn’t this what Paul does in 2 Tim 4:7-8?
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
I know Paul is about to be martyered here, he is at the end of his life, but isn’t he still commiting the sin of presumption?

Anyone care to explain to me?

Actually the translation you give is a bit off, given a Protestant slant on the Greek words. Here is the Catholic slant: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord, the just judge will render to me in that day, and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming.”

Read this way Paul is not saying is is gauranteed Heaven. In fact he is saying he is about to be judged.

Also, St. Paul, a “saint” had to have known something as he was about to be martyred for the faith, and it is Catholic Doctrine that being martyred for the Catholic faith grants one salvation through baptism of blood.

Upon Christ’s own words - he who loses his life for my sake shall find it - Heaven is guaranteed to His martyrs. Thus, St. Paul presumed nothing more than what the Lord taught…
